(More customer reviews)I spent some time looking up different brands before deciding on Gaiam, as I heard pretty good things about it. Not suprisingly (if you read the title of my review anyways) I found it a bit less than expected. I got it in the mail today and was very excited to use it for yoga. Perhaps unlike some delicate flowers that practice yoga I do sweat occasionally and my hands and feet kept slipping out from under me! That can be a bit precarious when your doing yoga and your face is close to a hard wooden floor. Now this is the first yoga mat I've owned; I have always used the yoga mats the gym provides and never had an issue with slipping. So this yoga mat either:
A) is slippery [and will never get better]
B) has some substance on it leftover from manufacturing that makes it slippery (**Note** This mat has an EXTREMELY strong chemical smell that you should probably let air out for a day before using.) [going to try and rinse it off]
C) may need to be broken in? [that sure takes time..]
Don't get me wrong, this mat isn't as terrible as using a gym mat for yoga (THAT is slippery!) but it's definately not great (especially for the price).

Gaiam Tres Medallion Yoga Mat - New! Review

(More customer reviews)The mat it self is a great design but it is thinner than I was expecting; however, this is my first yoga mat.It really is sticky when it is on the floor.It took a few days to completely get rid of the smell from being in the packaging.

(More customer reviews)I love this yoga bag! It is machine washable and therefore easy to clean. It also snaps fully open, so I can easily put my extra long, extra thick, sticky yoga mat in the bag. It's plenty big to toss my towel, tee, and water bottle on top of my oversized mat. Plus the outside, zippered pocket is great for keeping my keys, wallet and cell handy.

Gaiam Prosperity Yoga Mat (Gray Peony) Review

(More customer reviews)I'm unsure of what strange smell some folks talk about or what is mentioned on the instructions paper that comes w/ it?It seems to smell just fine, sort of like a new carpet or the interior of a new car.
However for those who are still concerned about the "new smell" the product comes w/ an instruction paper that tells you how to get rid of it.
Ironically it's not all that different than how to be-rid the new car smell.
This product works perfectly fine & quite big actually.Maybe that's because this is my 1st yoga mat ever.Lol!I like this product & encourage others to get this too.
I used it for the 1st time this past Wednesday at the free yoga class in the park by the bay.
Very nice & the one I ordered not only came from Gaiam Co. but it also matched the yoga bag I got for it too!
This is an excellent product for beginners & for experts!

Gaiam Tree of Life Yoga Mat Review

(More customer reviews)I have had this mat for three months, using 3-4 times a week for a 1 hour class, and it falling apart, coming into pieces all over, and now on my clothes. I have never had this happen with a mat, and I have three other ones I still use that are nearly 5 years old. But this was a gift and I guess I broke it in! And I am only 158lbs and not used in a power yoga class...just a standard Astanga.
