(More customer reviews)We bought this set when our baby started crawling to use over our wood floors.It's good padding, now that she's walking, she falls constantly and never acts hurt when she's on the mat.The mat isn't quite as big as you might think it'll be.Once you count the overlap of the pieces, the tiles are more like 11.5 inches but it still covers most of our floor.I'd say it's a durable product but certain things will hurt it.Our dog's claws dig into it if he runs across it & leaves permanent holes which make the mat look worse for wear.Also, our 1 year old easily takes the pieces apart & chews on them, which dents them.And it probably wouldn't be good for her if she ever bit a piece off.But that all seems standard with play mats.The thing that irks me most with these sets is the edge pieces.First of all, the corner pieces only come in a few of the colors, not all of them. So if you want to color match with the tile next to it, you can't do that for the corners in all the colors.Also, if you need to make an indent with the tiles, such as I needed to leave a space uncovered for my desk, the inside corner won't hold any corner pieces, they're only made for outside corners.So unless you want to cut an edge piece, you have to go without in the inside corner and it looks strange.We ended up just removing all the edge pieces so it would look uniform & our baby won't chew the edge pieces so readily.Each size set of this brand and type is the same from what I can tell, just a different amount of tiles per package.The groups come in slabs of four tiles with four edges, one of those being a corner edge.
Truthfully, this is a good product. It does what it's supposed to.It's pretty easy to clean & reasonably durable.If they would fix the corner edge piece issue and knock the shipping at least in half, I'd consider buying it again.I know how expensive the shipping is.It's what kept me from ordering it earlier on, I had to debate the worth of spending so much extra money on shipping.I think it's a worthwhile product & don't regret my purchase.
As an aside: if you're using this on wood flooring, beware that it can make the floor treacherously slippery especially in socks but the effect seems to go away some over time.We had this same problem with some other, Step 2, store bought foam tiles too.
