I've had this mat for over a year now so this is not a matter of "let it lay out for a few days."This thing will not lay flat.No, we don't roll it up (it arrived in a roll, but has been laying out flat for over a year now.We have tried turning it upside down when not in use, in hopes that it might curl the other way.We've tried putting something on each end (when not in use) to make it go flat.That hasn't worked.I thought about trying a hair dryer to soften it into the flat position but I don't want to ruin it.I thought about taping both ends to the floor, but it is a pile carpet floor so that would look atrocious.
The good news:
Well ... it really does do a great job of keeping down the wear on the carpet and keeps bounce-outs from hooking into the carpet.It's a classier hockey for the carpeted floor than anything I else could think of.It's kind of a shame they put both hockeys on the same side of the mat.If there's only one dartboard at the end of the mat, then only one line applies.Everyone has to ask which line to use.(I never knew there was a different hockey line for "electronic" darts versus real darts and to be honest, I never knew the hockey distance in metric which is how the mat is marked).
Bottom line:
I hope this works better on solid surface floors than on carpet.If you can make the ends lay down you've got a great product here (it would be better to print one hockey one each side -- or perhaps one on each end due to the different textures on each side).Otherwise it is kind of a pain in the...
