(More customer reviews)First off, this mat is not made of real tatami straw. It is plastic and even has the word tatami in quotes on the package, so it is definitely not the real thing. They should have noted that on the product description. I even went to StanSport's Web site and it did not mention anything about this not being real tatami.
Regardless of the false description, the mat is very functional and works well. I finally had a chance to use it on a picnic at the park today and it worked well. I am 5'9" and was able to stretch out comfortably on the mat with room to spare for both my girlfriend and me. For $12.99, it was a good price.
There is really nothing that I found on the market that can beat this. The other folding mats cost around $30. The material used in this particular mat is very comfortable and gives a little cushioning on the grass, so you will be very comfortable on it. As mentioned, the only issue I had was that it was not noted that this is not real tatami. Oh, they also sent it to me in red, which actually turned out nice.
